Jessica Landman

Principal Consultant

Even before she earned her nickname ‘sludge queen’ for her (successful) lawsuit against EPA to get the agency to control the toxic contaminants in sewage sludge used for fertilizer, Jessica has been a fierce and always data-driven advocate for people-friendly results. From the halls of Congress to the European Parliament to the meeting rooms of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, Jessica is a keen strategist who combines policy wonk tendencies with political savvy and can build advocacy networks around shared concerns in order to design solutions that work for everyone.

Jessica now leverages her 30+ years of experience as an advocate for natural resource conservation and law to benefit Council Fire’s clients. Prior to joining us, she held senior positions in several major conservation organizations, including the Environmental Defense Fund, WWF’s European Policy Office in Brussels, the Natural Resources Defense Council, and SeaWeb, and also worked in Congress and the federal government, so she knows how policy-making looks from inside and outside of government.
