Rukert Terminals Corporation

FOR 100 YEARS, BRINGING THE WORLD TO BALTIMORE

Rukert Terminals Corporation

Since 1921, Rukert Terminals Corporation (Rukert) has been a privately owned and operated company in Baltimore, Maryland specializing in handling metals, ores, fertilizers, alloys, and other dry bulk and break-bulk cargoes. Rukert’s services include stevedoring, warehousing, and transfer to-and-from vessel, rail, or truck. In 2021, Rukert celebrated 100 years of continuous operations in the Port of Baltimore. Such longevity can be attributed to the company’s highly effective generational leadership, its wonderful employees, and the many other stakeholders who have been critical to past and current successes.

  • Rukert leadership wished to commemorate this amazing milestone to both express its deep gratitude to their many partners and to highlight for its stakeholders the tremendous impacts the company has had and continues to have on the region. They envisioned a year-long public communications campaign to raise general awareness as well as pique excitement for the capstone event, a grand and logistically-complicated Centennial Celebration with hundreds of guests visiting from all corners of the globe.

  • Council Fire strategized and executed the public-facing communications effort as well as led guest experience communications to ensure celebration attendees were both well-informed of event logistics and able to become immersed in Rukert history and pride throughout the event. As part of this effort, Council Fire:

    • Developed a year-long high-level campaign strategy sharing Rukert’s 100-year history through social media posts and a series of videos.

    • Identified audiences and planned thematically-aligned communications to recognize and engage with those who have been most invested in Rukert’s journey.

    • Supported the creation of a commemorative book on the history of the company.

    • Created a 100-year logo and tagline.

    • Envisioned a party theme that gave a nod to history yet had a modern feel, and created graphic assets to bring the theme to life.

    • Created a website that served as a central point for storytelling and history as well as a seamless portal through which the Centennial Celebration guests could register and remain up-to-date on event details.

  • Rukert’s Centennial Celebration went off without a hitch and attendees left the event feeling appreciated and with a newfound recognition of Rukert’s history and impact. To impact this grand celebration’s success, Council Fire:

    • Executed a registration and communications platform that allowed 400+ event guests to remain up to date on happenings and side events.

    • Developed a party theme that wove company history into the event in a thoughtful, visually appealing, and impactful manner.

    • Provided the services and piece of mind to allow the Rukert team to enjoy their Centennial Celebration without having to juggle the logistical needs of guests.
